Austrian energy drink producer Red Bull will launch its planned TV channel in September as a free-to-air service on Astra (19.2° East) both in standard and high definition.

Servus TV (Hello TV), as the offer is dubbed, will replace city broadcaster Salzburg TV, which the company acquired in 2007. A general interest
programming schedule is planned with news, sports, entertainment, music, documentaries, reports, discussion rounds and cultural programmes.

The channel, which plans to finance through advertising and sponsoring, will be transmitted Europe-wide via Astra as well as in Austria via DTT and on
cable networks, as is currently the case with Salzburg TV. The company is also aiming for carriage on cable networks in Germany and Switzerland.

A special feature of Servus TV will be a high definition version offered on Astra in addition to the standard definition channel. The standard
version will occupy the frequency 12.663 GHz H (SR 22,000, FEC 5/6), while the HDTV variation will be on 11.303 GHz H (SR 22,000, FEC 2/3). Both channels will be unencrypted.
