Default Benchmarking the Sony Xperia X, starring Snapdragon 650

The Sony Xperia X is powered by a Snapdragon 650 - Qualcomm's new and highly popular mid-range chipset. To be honest, we tend to prefer its 652 sibling.Don't be fooled by their name, these are the true successors to the Snapdragon 810. They use the Cortex-A72 CPU core, faster and more powerful than the A57 it replaces. The Snapdragon 650 has two of them, the 652 has four, both add four Cortex-A53 cores for low-power needs.Better still, the GPU is part of the Adreno 5 series, a 510 to be exact. It's miles ahead of the Adreno 405 that's used in lower-end Snapdragon 6-series chipsets. It...

Micromax subsidiary YU Televentures has postponed the unveiling of its upcoming Yunicorn flagship smartphone. The device, which was earlier scheduled to be made official on May 19 (today), will now be announced on May 31.Apparently, the reason behind the delay is lack of media coverage - May 19 has been chosen as "vote counting day" by the Election Commission of India (several states in the country went for elections recently), so obviously the media will be focusing there.Coming back to Yunicorn, YU is marketing it as "the phone that will redefine flagships." Unlike the usual generic release notes that cite unnamed bug fixes and performance improvements, these latest releases address very specific issues. The first one on the list is perhaps the one that's hardest to understand, but the summary is that screen clarity when using Always On Display has been improved. Other things...

Those are still probably going to be two distinct Zenfone 3 models, and today a third has surfaced in the exact same benchmark's database. For now it's known only as the Asus Z016D. Its screen size is wrongly reported by GFXBench (this happens a lot) - yet if we assume that it meant 13.8 centimeters instead of inches then the phone sports a 5.5" display, which would make a lot more sense.Anyway, its...

Samsung's next phablet will be called Galaxy Note 7 instead of Note 6, new report claims
A new report out of Samsung's native South Korea now claims that the company's next flagship phablet will not be called Galaxy Note 6, as everyone expected. Instead, Samsung will allegedly go with Galaxy Note 7, skipping the number 6 entirely. The main reasoning behind this move apparently has to do with consistency. Samsung wants all of its flagships released in the same year to have the same number - so if this pans out, in 2016 we'll have the S7, S7 edge, and Note 7. That way there's no chance of some consumers assuming that a Note 6 is a generation older than the S7 edge, for...
