Flashback: saying goodbye to the Lightning port
This week we bid farewell to the Lightning port – with the launch of the iPhone 15 series and the Pro models its story comes to a close. Apple also switched a couple of iPods – the 7th gen nano and the 5th gen touch – to Lightning. This was significant as the 30-pin connector that Lightning came to replace was originally used...

Default Android 14 October 4 release confirmed by carrier

Last we heard anything about Google's delayed release of Android 14, it was rumored to finally be dropping on the day of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro announcement - October 4. Back then, it was just a rumor. Today, it's sort of confirmed.Only sort of, because this isn't exactly an official announcement - and we're not expecting one from Google until the day of. What we have is Canadian carrier Telus listing when software update rollouts would commence for the devices it sells. And under all Pixel devices starting with the Pixel 4a, "Android U" was listed as going out on October...

Teaser images reveal Honor X9b's design
The Honor X9a was announced in January this year, and it appears that Honor is ready to announce the successor named X9b. The handset appeared on Honor's Malaysian website, showing the design of its back. The design doesn't seem all that different from the X9a. It retains the circular camera island, although the ring seems thicker and it's protruding a bit more. The most obvious change, however, is the back panel. It appears the new X9b will be offered with vegan leather in at least one of its variants. The company also posted a teaser image on its official X account,...
