The new SF4008 UHD 4K comes with some highlights.
The new Octagon SF4008 UHD 4K is already in a few weeks to enrich the still manageable market at Ultra-HD receivers. The box will be equipped with a BCM 7251S main processor with 2x 1700 MHz power. Four gigabytes of Nand-Flash and a gigabyte of RAM ensure proper storage. As is usual for an ultra-HD receiver, the device will, of course, master the HVEC / H.265 video decoder.
In addition to various external interfaces, including one for USB 3.0 usage, the device will also support internal hard disks. 2.5-inch SATA data carriers are to be used. At the front, a 16-digit dot-matrix display is to transmit transmitter names and additional information to the user. In addition to free TV signals, encrypted offers with the new Octagon receiver are also available thanks to CA and CI interfaces.
New and unique in the market is the support of DVB-S2X signals. With this device, packets which are transmitted in the new DVB transmission standard can also be received. These have already been tested intensively by the OpenATV team, who have the receiver available as a preliminary model for software development.
The SF4008 UHD 4K, as well as a majority of the Octagon devices, will use the Linux operating system Enigma2. Several teams are already developing the images for the cheap UHD box. The start of sales will start in December. The entry-level model with Twintuner will cost just 200 euros, other variants are planned with up to three tuners.
