19,2 E ca si 13 E este una din cele mai strategice zone orbitale atat prin numarul foarte mare de programe FTA dar si prin platformele care sunt pe cele doua poziti orbitale, ce diferentiaza cele doua poziti orbitale??? Cei de la 13 E au avut curajul sa treaca de prejudecatile care ingradeau si limitau ca vechea generatie de sateliti sa acopere numai o mica parte din suprafata Europei . In prezent 13 Est are o acoperire buna a intregi Europe, aceasta este cea mai mare diferenta intre 13 E si 19,2 E care acopera doar partial Europa mai ales generatia veche de sateliti.
Ce aduce nou Astra 1M, fata de mai vechi sateliti??? o acoperire mai buna a intregi Europe si partea de nord a continentului " negru" Africa.
Astra 1M va inlocui pe predecesorul Astra 1H care va fi mutat catre 28.2 Est pentru a acoperii cererea tot mai mare din partea Mari Britani.
Astra 1M este facut pe o platforma Eurostar E3000.
Va avea 32(+4) transpondere in banda Ku.
Durata de "viata" va fi de 15 ani
Masa totala- 5300kg
Lansarea este preconizata pentru sfarsitul anului 2008 lunile noembrie ,decembrie cu o racheta Ariane-5ECA.

Astra-1M is a new telecommunications satellite owned SES ASTRA that will provide a full range of television broadcasting services, including HDTV and other advanced audiovisual as well as broadband services.
The Astra-1M spacecraft was built by EADS Astrium based on its flight-proven and state-oftheart Eurostar E3000 platform, the latest version of the Eurostar series, which became first part of the SES fleet with the Astra 2B spacecraft launched in September 2000.
Astra-1M carries 32 active Ku-band transponders covering the FSS and BSS frequency bands. The spacecraft will feature pan-European as well as Middle East and African coverage. The satellite is specified for a minimum service life of 15 years. It has a launch mass of 5,345 kilograms, and spacecraft power of 10 kW at end of life.
Astra-1M will replace Astra-1H and provide in-orbit backup capacity for the ASTRA fleet at 19.2° East. Following the successful launches of Astra 1KR and Astra 1L, Astra 2C was relocated from 19.2° to 28.2° East. According to SES ASTRA, this strategy provides additional capacity to meet the strong demand in the UK and Irish markets, driven by the expected growth of HDTV services.

Baikonur. On November, 3rd. " Kazakhstan Today " - the Booster rocket (РН) "Proton-th" with a space vehicle (КА) Astra-1M is established on starting "table" of a platform № 200 cosmodromes Baikonur, the correspondent of agency referring to a source at the cosmodrome transfers.
The decision on export РН "Proton-th" was accepted on November, 1st, at session of the state commission on preparation for start.
Yesterday at 06.30 on local time from a technical filling station transportation a railway platform of a booster rocket "Proton-th" to a starting complex of a platform № 200 has begun. The rocket has been delivered and established on starting "table" in vertical position.
To a rocket farms of service are shown. Experts of a name of M. design office the general mechanical engineering, the Federal space center "Baikonur" have started works under the schedule of the first starting day. Within 4 day experts of the cosmodrome will lead prestarting checks of systems of a starting complex and a booster rocket.
Start of a booster rocket "Proton-th" with telecommunication satellite Astra-1M is planned to make on November, 6th at 02.44 on time of Astana (on November, 5th at 23.44 Moscow time).
